OTSEGO TOWNSHIP has curbside recycling collected every other week on Tuesdays.  Homes on the east side and east of 16th Street will be on Schedule A and homes on the west side and west of 16th Street will be on Schedule B.  Recycling bins are available at the Township Hall at 400 N. 16th Street.

Place metals, plastics and glass in the bin.  Combine papers in brown paper bags and set out next to the bin. Break down cardboard boxes and cut or fold into 2ft. squares and stack under the recycling bin. Bags or boxes of additional materials can be placed next to the bin but be sure the bin is visible from the road. Place items out the NIGHT BEFORE THE COLLECTION.

 NO motor oil bottles, foam, plastic bags, microwave food trays, drinking glasses or Pyrex.

Call the Allegan County Health Department if you have household hazardous waste, like: household batteries, oil-based paints, cleaners, expired or unwanted medications, pesticides, solvents, compact fluourescent lights, automotive and other chemicals.  Bring us you mercury thermometers for an exchange!  Appointments for drop off are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays during regular business hours.  Call 269-673-5415 for your appointment.

 Paperboard - Cereal, snack and tissue boxes - remove liners, no wax coated paperboard or gable topped cartons. Junk Mail - Envelopes, flyers, brochures, postcards. Magazines, PhoneBooks & Catalogs, Cardboard & Paper Bags - Flatten cardboard and cut into pieces, no wax coated cardboard. Glass - Empty clear, green or brown glass. Metal - Cans must be rinsed out, empty aerosol containers, foil. Batteries - Household only, battery collection buckets inside the Township Hall. Plastics - #1 thru #5, plastic bottles and jugs, emptied and rinsed out.

USED MOTOR OIL CAN BE RECYCLED!

Call Little Pines Service, 131 East Allegan Street, Otsego 269-692-3233, (also takes antifreeze) or Auto Zone, 1380 M-89, Otsego, 269-692-2868 to check their hours for dropping off used motor oil.  Don't mix other wastes with oil.

Large shipping cartons, foamed polystyrene (no packing peanuts), appliances and tires can be taken to the monitored depot site:  Allied Waste Services, 3310 M-40, Hamilton on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays on the month. You must present your Resource Recovery card which is available from the Township office.  Please call 269-694-9434 if you are interested.
